Banish Unwanted Body Hair with Ubtan

Ubtan, every granny’s not-so-well-guarded secret is a tried and tested home remedy for unwanted body and facial hair. Its regular use is believed to lessen hair growth and results in glowing, fresh skin.

Here are some recipes of ubtan made from ingredients easily available in every household.

Basic Ubtan for Body Hair

Chickpea Ubtan

  • A basic ubtan pack can be easily prepared by mixing together 2 tablespoon gram flour,a pinch of sandalwood powder and turmeric, small spoons of milk cream and mustard oil and a dash of rose water.
  • Mix everything into a paste.
  • Apply on the area where you want to get rid of hair and allow it to dry.
  • Let it sit for 15-30 minutes.
  • Rub in the opposite direction of hair growth till it starts coming off in peels.
  • Rub till all the paste comes off and skin looks clean and shiny.
  • Wash the area using cold water.

Lentil Ubtan

  • Another effective ubtan for hair removal can be made using powdered masoor dal, sandalwood powder, multani mitti and honey.
  • Mix everything into a paste.
  • When it is half-dry, rub it in anti-clockwise direction.
  • Wash it off later.

Papaya Ubtan

  • Papaya is known to help reduce hair growth.
  • Mix papaya with aloe vera gel, gram flour and turmeric powder.
  • Make a paste.
  • Apply on skin, allow to dry and wash with cold water.

Ubtan for Facial Hair

Chickpea Ubtan

  • This is specifically for facial hair as they are fine in texture and skin of face is sensitive too.
  • Mix chickpea powder with neem leaves powder, raw milk and turmeric.
  • Make a paste.
  • Leave it on till it is half dry and rub it in circular motion.
  • Wash with cold water.
  • Pat dry.

hair removal through Ubtan needs patience and repeated applications.  For quick and instant results, you can try facial waxing for complete hair removal from the root.

Lentil Ubtan

  • Take red lentil or masoor dal.
  • Mix it with sandalwood powder, orange peel powder and chironji.
  • Make sure the powder is not too coarse and is finely grounded as it has to be used on face.
  • Make a paste of the grounded ingredients by adding raw milk.
  • Apply the paste on your face and allow it to dry.
  • You may need to use some olive oil or coconut oil to rub it off.
  • Again, you must use a circular motion with your fingertips to take it off.
  • Once most of the pack comes off, you can wash it with cold water.

In addition to reducing and curbing hair growth, the ubtan will also help your skin become clearer and softer. It can also control the appearance of blemishes and marks on your skin, and even out the skin tone when used regularly for a long period.

While the regular use of ubtan can reduce unwanted hair growth but it may not get rid of them entirely.
