Women often cringe at the amount of hair they lose while brushing or washing. Here are some causes of hair fall and tips to control it:
Stress: Stress increases testosterone, which interrupts hair growth. It causes a decrease in the supply of oxygen through capillaries, as well as poor nutrient absorption of the hair follicles, leading to hair loss.
GUD Tip: Performing yoga and meditation regularly is a stress buster and could prevent hair fall.
Nutrition and diet: Deficiency of nutrients such as biotin, protein, keratin and zinc causes hair fall. These nutrients contribute in vitamin absorption much needed for hair growth.
GUD Tip: Ensure that you have a balanced diet and increase the intake of protein rich foods.
Environment: Pollution and sun rays cause hair cells to age prematurely, making them weak.
GUD Tip: Protect your hair from pollution by using a scarf. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
Medication: Some medicines have grave side effects. Heavy medication and certain radiation based treatments may cause a hair loss.
GUD Tip: Opt for herbal alternatives to medicines whenever possible. These contain natural ingredients that aid hair growth.
Wondering how to grow hair faster?
Here are some home remedies for hair growth:
Beetroot juice and Henna leaves: Beetroot contains proteins and vitamins that strengthen your strands, while henna helps to tighten hair follicles. Apply a paste of henna and beetroot and leave it on for 20 minutes, followed by a wash. This hair fall treatment works like magic.
Brushing: Brush your hair at least 50 times before bedtime to strengthen the roots and ensure quick growth.
Hot massage: A hot oil massage does wonders for your hair, making it grow faster and become stronger. Massage your hair with hot oil thrice a week for quick results.
Castor oil: Although it smells pungent, castor oil has properties that help to quicken hair growth. Rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, castor oil is a natural and effective conditioner.
Flip your hair upside down: It is believed to be the easiest remedy for hair growth, as it increases blood circulation. Flip your hair upside down for 2 minutes every day.
Fenugreek: The anti-fungal properties of fenugreek or methi promote hair growth. Apply a thick paste of fenugreek and leave it on for 30 minutes, followed by a wash. Apply the mask every 15 days for best results.
Cumin seeds: Cumin seeds contain vitamin E needed for healthy, long locks. Once a month, apply a paste of cumin seeds soaked in olive oil for a quick hair growth.

Hi,
Great article, with a lot of useful tips.
The beetroot & henna tip sounds like something I should try. Currently, I am using an oil with Bhringraj. It is amazing, but makes me extremely sleepy.
Hence the lookout for alternatives. But I have a small doubt, would it affect the haircolour?
